At VAPS ACADEMY we offer free training that aims to instill competence and product knowledge in all our representatives and brokers, in order to ensure positive client experiences - from underwriting to the claims stages.
VAPS HCV Product Specific Training
Our product specific training course will equip you with the knowledge to fully understand who the product is intended for, the specific characteristics, terms and features of the product. The training consists of a slideshow and 27 questions in the online exam. The pass mark is 80% and each candidate will have two assessment attempts. We require the following information to register each candidate for the training:
- Full names and Surname
- ID number
- Email address
VAPS HCV Excess Reducer Product Specific Training
Our Excess Reducer product specific training course will equip you with the knowledge to fully understand the offering and details around the cover we offer for excess payments on motor and non-motors related insurance products. The training course will be available soon.

Why you should register
This course is for independent and affiliated insurance brokers who want to understand the products we offer and complete compliance through formal course training provided by VAPS Academy. By completing the VAPS Academy courses you will ensure legal compliance is attained with FAIS Fit & Proper requirements, improve your product knowledge and confidence to provide client satisfaction.
What is required in terms of FAIS?
Section 29 (1)(b) of the FAIS Act states that an FSP and all representatives must, prior to the rendering of any financial service in respect of a particular financial product, complete product-specific training. We have an obligation in terms of FAIS and TCF to ensure that all our brokers meet the FAIS Competency Requirements and want to use this opportunity to make sure that all the advisors in your office have completed our VAPS HCV Product Specific Training.
CPD
Our VAPS HCV Product Specific Training has been approved for 4 IISA CPD Points and can thus be filed for IISA Membership CPD requirements. (Please remember that Product-Specific Training is specifically excluded from FAIS Fit & Proper CPD activities.) On completion of the exam you will receive the following certificate that can be filed for IISA CPD purposes:
